While with the Pistons, Wallace won his first NBA Championship. In November, Bonzi Wells lost his co-captain title and was traded to Memphis in exchange for Wesley Person days after his bitter relationship Maurice Cheeks. Person was then traded to Atlanta in exchange for Theo Ratliff, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, and Dan Dickau.
